Luke in his later years lived in Botetourt County, VA., on his plantation called "The Loop". The plantation was 250 acres of land located on the loop of Craigs Creek, 13 miles northwest of the courthouse at Fincastle. Fincastle is the county seat of Botetourt County. Luke died in 1843. When Luke died he owned 18 slaves. According to Luke's will Martha (Patsy) was to live on the plantation until her death. Luke's son-in-law, Beverly Tucker was to derive no benefits at all from his estate. But Beverly Tucker purchased all the shares from heirs until he owned "The Loop".
