| Note | Louis David Wade was the nephew to Nancy (Wade) Gregory. John Ballanger Wade was the son of Louis David Wade. Louise May Callen was the wife of John Ballanger. WADE, Louis David - 1856 - 1936 Shawnee Mound Cemetery, Shawnee Twp, Henry Co, MO Louis D. Wade died at his home at Shawnee Mound at 10:10 p.m. Monday from the infirmities of old age. Since the death of his wife several years ago, he had made his home next door to his son, John B. Wade, who attentively cared for his father. Louis David Wade was one of the old residents of Henry county, having spent all his life in Henry and Johnson Counties. He was born in Henry County December 15, 1856, of Kentucky parents. His father came to Missouri from Hopkinsville, Cumberland County, Kentucky, and his mother having died when he was a small boy, he was reared by Aunt Nancy Gregory. Mr. Wade was a farmer, industrious, of upright principles and possessor of an integrity which always characterized him. He was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian church. He is survived by two sons, John B. wade of Shawnee Mound and will Wade of Kansas City; two daughters of Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, CAlif., Mesdames Carl Bader and I. B. Sparks; also two half brothers, John and Tom Wade of Kansas City and Post Oak respectively. Three grandchildren are also left. The funeral services were preached by Rev. Bromley of Montrose, pastor of the church of his belief, at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Shawnee Mound and the body was laid to rest in Shawnee Mound cemetery. Pallbearers were: Ed Stone, C. C. Bradley, Cliff Stevenson, Ed Murray, and L. R. Bradley. Wilkinson Funeral Service in charge. WADE, John Ballanger - 1894 - 1963 Shawnee Mound Cemetery, Shawnee Twp, Henry Co, MO Daily Democrat, Clinton MO - Funeral services for John B. Wade, 69, Shawnee Mound, who died unexpectedly of a heart attack at his home at 10:00, Monday, June 17, 1963, were conducted at the Consalus Funeral Home, at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 19, by the Rev Roy Southers of the Shawnee Mound Cumberland Presbyterian Church, of which Mr. Wade was a member. Pallbearers were Cecil Coulter, Charles Crooks, Roy Austin, John Warner, Charley Boyd and Basil Laughman. Interment was in Shawnee Mound Cemetery. John Balanger Wade was born Jan 7, 1894, in Henry County, in the Shawnee Mound area, the son of the late Louis D. and Martha Bailey Wade. He spent his entire life in Henry County. A great part was at Shawnee Mound where he had operated a garage at one time, later a grocery and feed business. He also was well-known in the trucking business. He was a veteran of World War I. Mr. Wade married Miss Louise Callen on Feb 26, 1921, to which union two daughters were born. They established their home in the vicinity where they since had remained. Survivors include his wife, Louise, of the home; two daughters, Mrs. L. W. (Rosamond) Barton, Grand Rapids, MI and Mrs. Don (Betty Lou) Arwood, Clinton; three grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. John Gill, Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, CA; a niece; other relatives and friends. WADE, Louise May CALLEN - 1901 - 1980 Shawnee Mound Cemetery, Shawnee Twp, Henry Co, MO Louise May Wade was born January 23, 1901, in the state of Oklahoma. Her parents, Francis M. and Lillian Callen, moved to Missouri while she was a young girl. They lived in the Hortense area before moving to the Shawnee Mound community, where she spent the rest of her life. She married John B. Wade on February 26, 1921. Her husband preceded her in death in 1963. She became a member of the Shawnee Mound Cumberland Presbyterian Church in 1924 and was a member of the Ladies Aid for many years. She continued to run Wade's Store after her husband's death until her health began failing her. She is survived by two daughters, Rosamond Barton, Tipp City, OH, and Betty Lou Arwood, Chilhowee; one granddaughter, Glenda Pittman, two grandsons, David Barton and Gary Arwood, and one great-granddaughter, April Arwood. She is also survived by one brother, Edgar Callen. One brother, Delbert Callen, and one sister, Thelma Gildersleeve, preceded her in death. Nieces include Frances, and Zoe Ann Tapscott; Nephews, Harlan Callen, Kenneth Callen and William Callen. She died at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton at the age of 79. Funeral services were held March 3, 1980. Pallbearers were Cecil Coulter, Charles Crooks, Fay Feasel, Herbert Lionberger, Brice Bailey and William Bailey. Burial was in Shawnee Mound Cemetery.1 |
