I have a Nancy Tompkins as the first wife of Lawrence Gordon, Sr. born1762 and second wife, Sarah Brewer. I have his parents names, JohnGordon Sr and Eliazabeth. William Gordon,b 1795 (son of Lawrence F.1762)and Anna Warfield moved to Jefferson Co., Indiana where all theirchildren were born.
I 'm trying to find proof that they had a son named George W Gordon1822-1906 my gg grandfather.

Source= LaVerne, who is the ggg-granddaughter of William Gordon 1795, andhis wife Anna Ryan Warfield. William was the son of this Lawrence b1762. E-mail ---contacted me Feb. 25-26, 2004

The following is my genealogy chart ,(Laverne Millstead statement)
gggg grandfather- Lawrence Gordon;
ggg grandparents- William Gordon 1795-1849 and Anna Ryan Warfield;
gg grandparents- George W Gordon 1822-1906 and Phebe Simpers 1822-1861;George W Gordon's first wife Phebe Simpers, they had two children 1.Sarah Gordon 1848-1872; ( 2. Rosa Jane Gordon 1850-1885 my greatgrandmother) After Phebe's death around 1861, George W Gordon married ,second wife, Mary Ann Harris, this union produced one son, also namedGeorge W Gordon 1864-1941.--- Phebe Simpers was the daughter of AmosSimpers and Rebecca Ridgway of Jefferson Co., Indiana.

Great grandparents, Rosa J Gordon,1850-1885 and Jesse A Thomas 1848- ?,of Jefferson Co., Indiana, they had four children, Oscar b, 1870,Frederick 1872-1935, (Mae Eve Thomas 1878-1923 my grandmother), andRebecca Thomas 1882-1967. --- Jesse A Thomas was the son of Jacob Thomas1822-1902 and Lydia Williams 1826-1911 of Jefferson Co., Indiana

After Rosa's death, Jesse Thomas moved his family to Mississippi, wherehis daughter, Mae Eve Thomas married Frank W Smith , Sr.1872-1836, (mygrandparents), settled in Picayune , Mississippi and raised 12 children,one being my dad, Frank W Smith Jr. 1910-1999. ---------------Frank WSmith Sr. was born in Alabama and the son of Henry W Smith and CherokeeAnna Smith 1836-1908

Two of Rosa Gordon & Jesse A Thomas's children, Frederick Thomas andRebecca Thomas moved to California and settled in San Luis Obipso. Whenmy dad , Frank Smith Jr. 1910-1999, was 22 years old he decided to headout West, and work for his Aunt and Uncle on their watermelon farm. Hedid just that, in the evening after work my father would play footballwith the other fellows, one day a football scout from the University ofSanta Clara saw my dad at play and helped him to get a FootballScholarship to attend the University. To make a long story short my dadbecame a famous football player for Santa Clara and his team, theBronco's, played in the second Sugar Bowl in New Orleans in 1937 or 1938.While playing football my dad was given the nick name, MississippiSmith', because he was from Miss.
Another team mate named Lionel Rodgers became friends with my dad andtold him if he ever needed a job he could come to work for his family inVallejo, Calif. . My dad took up the invitation moved to Vallejo, went towork for the Rodgers Bottling Company and married the boss's daughter. Mymom and dad had five children.
