| Obituary | April 25, 1909 | An obituary for Edward Y Stigers appeared on April 25, 1909 in Shelby News, Shelby County, Kentucky. Death of E. Y. Stigers Edward Y. Stigers, aged sixty-eight years, died at 2:55 o'clock Tuesday morning at his home north of Shelbyville. He was stricken a week ago with paralysis and his condition gradually grew worse until the end came. Mr. Stigers was born in Franklin County, but when quite young came to this county and located in the Bagdad neighborhood, where he followed farming until about six years ago. Upon leaving Bagdad, he resided in Bullitt County for a few years. Three years ago he bought the old Peter Cook place north of Shelbyville, where he has since made his home. He was a pleasant, agreeable man and a good citizen. Mr. Stigers is survived by his second wife and six children by his first marriage. They are Bert, John I., James F., Edward C., Curtis, and Miss Aminta Stigers. All reside in Louisville except for Edward C. Stigers, who is the L & N Agent at Bagdad. John L. Roberts of Snow Hill is a stepson. The funeral services will be conducted by Rev. T. S. K. Tinsley at Bagdad Christian Church this morning at 11 o'clock. The burial will be in the cemetery at Bagdad. | Obituary | January 1, 1903 | An obituary for Elizabeth Bryant appeared on January 1, 1903 in Shelby News, Shelby County, Kentucky. MRS. ELIZA HONAKER Mrs. Eliza Honaker died December 18 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. Y. Stigers, near Bagdad, in the ninety-first year of her age. She had been an invalid and sorely afflicted for eighteen years, but bore her affliction with great patience and was resigned to her heavenly Father's will. Mrs. Honaker was born Oct. 15, 1812 at Bryant's Station, Fayette county, Ky. Her husband, Issac Honaker, died October 23, 1874. She had been a faithful member of the Baptist Church for over fifty years and possessed a truly Christian spirit. She was the mother of twelve children, five ofwhom have gone before to await her coming. She also leaves one brother, the last of the family. The funeral services were conducted at Mt. Zion Baptist Church by Rev. J. F. Griffith and the remains were laid to rest by the side of herhusband in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. (Jan. 1, 1903 Shelby News Shelby County, KY) Side Note: The daughter, Mrs. E. Y. Stigers, would be Sallie. Zerelda,another daughter and the first wife of Mr. Stigers, died in 1881.
