| Obituary | An obituary for Ida Mae Sudduth appeared. A Christmas tradition that covered twenty-six years and grew to include five generations came to an end Friday, December 26, 1958, with the death of Mrs. Ida Hulette, Devil's Hollow Road in Frankfort. Eighty-eight and still active and living alone on her farm in the Choateville area, Mrs.Hulette was the mother of Mrs. Dan Moore of Frankfort; the grandmother ofAlton Moore, Frankfort and of Miss Irene Moore, Louisville; the great-great-grandmother of Mrs. Earl O'Nan, Frankfort, and the great-great-grandmother of Mike and Tressie Sue O'Nan. Each year Mrs.Hulette and everyone in the family ranging from Milke, 7, to Tressie Sue,1, to Mrs. Dan Moore, enjoyed Christmas dinner together on the Hulette farm. The dinner, always on Christmas Eve, included a turkey from the flock Mrs. Hulette kept in her yard. After the meal, members of the family enjoyed opening presents together with Mrs. Hulette, despite her years, always on the floor and played with the children. Even with her large family Mrs. Hulette remained independent until she died. She had lived alone since the death of her husband twenty-two years before. She was a charter member of the Choateville Christian Church and popular with the neighborhood children. But last Monday tragedy struck. At 5:30 a.m. Mrs. Hulette's clothing caught fire and before it was put out by some tenants living in another part of the house the blaze had burned more than seventy percent of her body. She died five days later at King's Daughters Hospital in Frankfort. Funeral services will be conducted in Rogers Chapel and interment will follow in the Choateville Cemetery,Franklin County, Kentucky.12 |
