The main house of Albert G. Herr's Magnolia Stock Farm was the site ofthe tragic poisioning of guests at an April 15, 1891, wedding. Though the bride---Herr's daughter, Fannie Belle--survived, seven people, including bridegroom Winfred Snook, died. Jane Helen 'Jennie' Herr Hite, a cousin of the bride, was among the victims. The house, which still stands, was constructed in the 1870's on the foundation of a previous structure built by Albert Herr's father, John. 'Jersey cattle, trotting horses, Berkshire hogs, and Silesian Merino sheep' were bred and raised on the 206-acre farm, which was considered one of the finest in the state.

Note: Above is the account of the poisioning of Winfred, Sarah & VanBuren's son, at the reception of his own wedding. VanBuren, himself also died from that same poisoning.
