Mrs. L. Grimshaw, wife of the Commander in the Salvation Army inPensacola, wrote Myrtle Watson, Thaddeus' daughter-in-law, a letter in1923 after Thaddeus' death urging her to come to Florida to protect herchildren's interest in Thaddeus' estate. Earl's sister, Pearl, had cometo Pensacola and taken some money out of Earl's funds for her trip home,as well as his 'trunk' and personal belongings. (The money was laterrepaid). Later, Pearl was named Administrator of Thaddeus' estate, butthe bonding company would not agree to bond her as sole controller of theestate. The company decided to place all the funds in the AmericanNational Bank of Pensacola 'in her name as Administratrix.' Any checkswritten by Pearl from these funds had to be countersigned by the bondingcompany's agent. Myrtle received funds periodically from the AmericanNational Bank for her children. In the 1930 Census, Myrtle (30) and children (Charles E., FrankL.-should be T.- and Mary E.) are living at house number 209 Todd Streetin Frankfort. None have occupations, but Myrtle owns her home, which hasa value of $1,200. They have a radio set. Myrtle can read and write.All the children attend school and can read and write. Everyone islisted as born in Kentucky, as are their parents. Myrtle died on January 1, 1931, and 'Aunt Mamie' (Mable RussellAyers) came from Indianapolis to live in their house in Frankfort andcare for the children.
