Hissecond military career began on November 12, 1949 with theTennessee Army National Guard when he entered on the date ofFederal Recognition of Anti Tank Company, 117th Infantry. OnDecember 15, 1948, he accepted the full-time position of UnitAdministrator of the Huntingdon unit. He served in this capacityuntil his retirement in 1977, after 33 years and four months ofservice to his country. His awards include: Asiatic-PacificTheater medal, with one bronze star, Good Conduct medal,National Defense service medal; World War II Victory medal,Armed Forces Reserve medal; National Guard Distinguished ServiceMedal, Tennessee National Guard Commendation Medal and numerousother state awards. In 1974 he received the first “Chief’sFifty” recruiting award which was presented personally by theChief, National Guard Bureau, in Washington, D.C. On August 8,1993, the Huntingdon National Guard was dedicated and renamedthe Allen E. Williams Armory. Survivors include his wife of 67years, Mrs. Lois Cook Williams; one son, Steve Williams and onebrother Johnny Williams, all of Huntingdon. Two brothers, BillyWilliams and Dallas Williams preceded him in death.1 |
