Robert Cannon came to McDonough county in 1833, and located on section6, in what is now Colchester township. He was born in Pennsylvania,and afterwards removed to Kentucky. He married Elizabeth Cheatham, a native of Virginia. He was a millwright, carpenter and cabinet maker,and followed his trade in Kentucky and for some time after coming tothis county. On his arrival in the county, he purchased 40 acres of land, on which he built a log house. In this he resided with his family until his death occurred, in April, 1854. Mr. and Mrs. Cannonwere the parents of three children, of whom James Anderson Cannon, ofMacomb township, was one.

MJ 12 October 1882 tells of death of Mrs. Nancy C. Ratikin, who d 19September, at Good Hoge. She was born in Nelson County, Kentucky, 11February 1816, a daughter of Robert and Elizabeth Cannon. When she wassamll, the family moved to Washington Co, KY, and in the fall of 1832moved to ILL. She and Jonathan Ratiken were married 23 Oct 1834. He d8-8-1873.
