Note: This Catherine is supposed to have died young as per otherresearchers who get their info from, 'The Hulette Family History'.
Fact is, she married at 16 yrs old to my g-grandfather, Albert (17 yrsold) of Benson and lived only long enough (age 23) to give him oneliving child, my grandfather, James Washington Shackelford, who was only3 yrs old when his mother, (Catherine) died.

=========================
Note: Catherine Hulett b. Indiana and Katie B. Hulett, b. FranklinCo., are two different individuals, both born to James M Hulett.Courtney Moore being Catherine's mother, and Martha Flynn being KatieB.'s mother. This 1870 census above is the last you ever hear of her onrecord as Catherine Hulett. My g-grandfather, Albert Shackelford marriesher in 1879. She dies in 1886 and date comes only because story has itthat my grandad was only 3 yrs. old when she died, thus 1886.

AS FOR ALBERT AND CATHERINE'S MARRIAGE CERT. SAYING THAT THEY WEREMARRIED AT HER UNCLE JAMES HULETT'S HOUSE,---I CONSIDER THIS TO BE AMISTAKE BY THE PERSON SIGNING THE CERT. THIS THEORY IS SHARED WITH ME BYANOTHER HULETT RESEARCHER, DIANE NIELSON.
DIANE ALSO BELIEVES IT POSSIBLE THAT CATHERINE WAS ADOPTED IN INDIANA BYJAMES AND COURTNEY SINCE THEY WERE 50 & 34 AT THE TIME OF HER BIRTH. THEYHAD BEEN MARRIED SINCE 1850 AND CATHERINE WAS BORN IN 1863- 13 YRS LATER.POSSIBLE THAT COURTNEY COULD NOT HAVE CHILDREN OR WAS TOO BUSY CARING FORJAMES'S CHILDREN BY HIS FIRST WIFE. ALSO POSSIBLE THAT JAMES WAS ALSO INSOMEWAY HER UNCLE THAT ADOPTED HER. . JAMES MARRIED AGAIN AND HAD ADAUGHTER, (KATIE B.)
----------------------------------------------------------
On my grandfather's (James W. Shackelford b. 1883) birth cert.,obtained himself in 1942 through the affidavits of his aunt, AgnesShackelford Jennings and Nannie B. Hulette, (Nancy Polsgrove Hulett-wifeof Lazarus Powers Hulett) his mother's name is spelled, KATHERINE HULETT.It also says that Katherine was 21 and Albert, his father , was 24 yearsold. Both born in Benson.5
Nickname She is also known as Katie.
Note-ShackelfordShe and Albert D Shackelford S.A. Hulett was a witness at Katie and Albert's marriage ceremony. He was Sylverter Alexander Hulett b. July 25, 1867,son of John Jefferson Hulette and Dorothy (Dolly) Moore. John Jefferson was James Madison's brother and Dolly was Dosha and Courtney's sister.5

(household member) Census 1870July 20, 1870Catherine Hulett was listed as a member of the household of James Madison Hulett and Courtney Elizabeth Moore in the 1870 Census on July 20, 1870 in Benson, Franklin County, Kentucky.4

In Memoriam

````````````
In memory of Fannie.
Wife of Jas. W. Shackelford,
died June 11th, 1907, age twenty-three years.
Oh, how we miss you, dear Fannie,
As we gaze upon that vacant place
Around our home, sad and lonely---
Absent is your loving face.
There is an aching void
In our hearts today,
But God has truly said
He will wipe all tears away.
You have left us ------- gone forever---
To be happy with the blest,
Freed from all pain everlasting,
Fannie, dear, God knows best.
How can we give you up?
You whom we loved so well,
How can we drink this bitter cup?
And say the world----farewell.
Fannie is gone but not forgotten,
Never shall her memory fade,
Sweetest thoughts shall ever linger
Round the grave where she is laid.
