Somewhere about 1804, Tarlton Lee and Martin Basket donated each an acreof ground upon which to build a church at Buffalo Lick, where a churchstill stands and has so long been the center of the 'Bufflo Lick'neighborhood, between Peytona and Bagdad in the eastern portion of theCounty, taking its name from the lick, found at Peytona by the firstsettlers. The first meeting was held at the house of Thos. Basket, Sr.,and the constituents were members given up by the 'Tick Creek' Church andwere; Phillip Weber, I Underwood, Benj. Boyd, Martin Basket, Thos.Basket, Sr., Roderick Perry, John Yount, and Charles Michel.2
