The Palestine Baptist Church and Cemetery is located three miles east ofBainbridge and one-half mile south. The church was started in 1830 byIsaac Monnet, Charles Hunter, Thomas Broadstreet and Wm. Collings fromthe Salem Church and John Kinder and Daniel Eggers from Enon. The firsttrustees were John Wilson, William Pounds and Robert F. Case.
The Palestine Cemetery is located to the east behind the church. TheCemetery was last catalogued in 1976 by R. L. Wilson of Fletcher, NC andhis brother, Charles R. Wilson, of Kansas City, MO.

Note In Marriage book 1 of Shelby County Kentucky page 54 'Prothero, Samuel and Esther Lewis, dau. of Jesse Lewis; M-6 Feb. 1812, B-WilliamProthero.' There have been records that showed Esther as the Daughter of Joseph Lewis (Jesse's Father). There was a will of Joseph's that named Esther as daughter of Joseph who married Samuel Prothero. Will was destoyed in fire during the Civil War.4 
Name Variation Esther Lewis was also known as Essie.4

Zachariah married Hannah Lewis, daughter of Joseph Lewis, on 8-13-1815 in Shelby County. Joseph Lewis later moved to Putnam County, IN where he died 11-2-1836.

Zachariah and Hannah had four children--William Henry Lee, Mary Lee,Sarah Jane Lee, and Roland Lee. Hannah died about 1824.

Zach married Levina Burns on 6-30-1827 in Franklin County. They had 8children and Levina raised the 4 children that Zach had with Hannah.

Info on the children of Zach and Hannah begins in paragraph 6:

William Henry Lee married Nancy Ann Chadwich, granddaughter of Benjamin B. Penn, Jr., who was a Revolutionary War veteran and who later lived anddied in Franklin County, Kentucky.

William Henry and Nancy Ann's daughter, Mary Frances Lee, married WillisLindsey Watkins. They (William Henry and Nancy Ann) later became thegrandparents of William Chester Watkins, Arnett Lee Watkins, and MayWatkins Rodgers of Franklin County.
