    Crash Into Tree Kills Nursery-School Head
    A 54 year old woman was injured fatally yesterday when her automobile crashed into a tree in the 4500 block on Southern Parkway after she "blacked out."
    Mrs. Pauline H Thompson, 4706 Cliff, director of Cabbage Patch Nursery School, died at 3 pm at Norton Memorial Infrimary, about half an hour after the accident.
    Chief Deputy Coroner William T Kammerer said she died of a crushed chest, internal injuries, and a broken left leg.
    Kammerer said Mrs. Thompson had told a physician at the infirmary shortly before she died that she had been subject to blackout spells for the past month. She had said she blacked out while driving home yesterday from the nursery school.
    Mrs. Thompson had been director of the nursery school since 1948. She was a native of Shelby County and a member of Beechmont Baptist Church.
    Survivors are her husband, Eugene T Thompson, a civilian employee of the Louisville Police Department; two sons, Pvt. Carey Thmpson and Gene Thompson, and a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Kesler, Bagdad, Ky. The funeral and burial will be in Bagdad.

    Elizabeth Kesler

    BAGDAD - Elizabeth Harlow Kesler, 98, of Bagdad, died Saturday, 17 January 2009, at Jewish Hospital Shelbyville. A native of Bagdad, she was the daughter of the late Joe and Minnie Wade Harlow and the widow of Samuel Kesler. Mrs. Kesler, a school teacher whose career spanned over forty years, began teaching at Bald Knob in Franklin County, from there she began teaching for many years at Bagdad, and retired from East Middle School in Shelbyville. She was the oldest member of Indian Fork Baptist Church. She also attended Bagdad Baptist Church where she was formerly active in the WMU. A 1928 graduate of Bagdad High School, Mrs. Kesler was also the oldest alumna of that institution. She was also a graduate of the University of Louisville. Her other memberships included the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association.

    Elizabeth Harlow Kesler is survived by two grand nephews, Kent Thompson and Carey Thompson and a grand niece, Caroline Donnelly, all of Louisville. Survivors also include several cousins, including Robin Dunavan, who was her caretaker.

    Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, 21 January 2009, at Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Shelbyville with the Reverend Herman Bowers, officiating. Interment will follow in Bagdad Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 until 8 P.M., Wednesday, 21 January 2009 at Hall-Taylor, and expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Indian Fork Baptist Church or Bagdad Baptist Church.
