Obituary | | An obituary for Joanna Martin appeared. Obituary for Joanna Martin Wade, Dodge County news: Mrs. Joanna Martin Wade, wife of Judson W. Wade, former residents of Eastman, passed away at the city hospital in Brunswick, Feb. 5. Mrs. Wade has been in health for the past year, but her condition was not critical until a few days prior to her death. She was 65 years of age, the daughter of the late George and Matilda Jane Martin, prominent and pioneer residents of Dodge County, and for the past 25 years had made her home in Brunswick. Survivors are her husband, J. W. Wade; four children, Jerome, Orlando, Fla; Lamar, of Jacksonville, Fla; Edwin and Mrs. Lucile Lott, of Brunswick; and four grandchildren also survive. Two sisters, Mrs. J. D. Elkins, Eastman; and Mrs. F. E. Mallonee, El Monte, California; three brothers, Frank Martin, Hackensack, NJ; Lark Martin, Fitzgerald; and Harris Martin, Brunswick. Funeral rites were held Saturday, Feb. 7, from the First Baptist Church in Brunswick, with services conducted by Rev. C. Douglas Jackson and assisted by Rev. C. H. Moss. Selections rendered by the church choir were favorites of the deceased, "The Lord's Prayer," and "God Will Take Care of You." Many dozens of beautiful floral tributes filled the chancellory of the church. Active pallbears were F. S. Cook, W. F. Meeks, J. W. Powell, W. W. Knight, Ernest Owens and C. E. Flower. Honorary: Richard Peters, Walter Newham, A. Crews, Ralph Smith, John Wells, B. A. Barker, Walter Watson, Franklin Crandall, Huey Reeves, P. M. Bennett, G. H. Hall, C. W. Fleming, Mitchell Owens, Ernest Nutt, Thad Dankel, Tom Stutts, Sidney Boswell, John Finelson and Felix Morris Interment was in Palmetto Cemetery in Brunswick with the Gibson-Hart Funeral Home in charge. Eastman relatives attending were Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Elkins, Rrs. Bart Weeks and Terrell Weeks, Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Lewis and family and Mrs. Jay Scarborough.1 |

Jerry was a World War II veteran, serving in Western Europe. During his army years, Jerry earned the European Theater Operations ribbon with three battle stars, the Good Conduct medal, the Purple Heart with a cluster, a Presidential Unit citation and the Combat Infantryman's badge.
Judson and Frances had requested that they be cremated and their ashes be scattered over the ocean.1 |

The Rev. Father F. J. Callaghan preformed the impressive ceremony in the presence of a few close friends of the young couple. For her wedding the bride was attractive in a lovely afternoon gown of white chiffon fashioned with an accordian pleated skirt. Her becoming hat was an imported model of white straw finished with a short veil. Completing the pretty costume was a shoulder corsage of talisman roses and lilies of the valley. The bride was attended by her cousin, Eugenia Parkerson, of Eastman, as maid of honor and only attendant, and B. J. Lott served as his brothers best man. Miss Parkerson was attractively gowned in a model of floral chiffon finished with a white sharkskin jacket and worn with an off- the-face hat of white felt and shoulder corsage of briarcliffe roses. Both the bride and groom are well known among a number of friends in brunswick where they have resided for several years. They are both graduates of Glynn Academy. The bride is a charming young girl, much admired by many friends. Mr. Lott, who is the son of B. H. Lott of this city, is associated with the hercules powder plant in the laboratory at the Brunswick plant. Mr. Lott and his bride are presently located with her parents on Union Street.
Obituary for Lucile Wade Lott, Brunswick News: Rites to be held Monday for Mrs. Lott The funeral for Lucile Wade Lott. who died Thursday, will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph McLaughlin officiating. Interment will follow at Palmetto Cemetery. Active pallbears will be Larry Wade, Carroll Martin, Greg Wade, Randy Cribb, Gerald Mancil, and Thomas Spaulding. Honorary pallbears will be Eugene Kearney, Foster Ledford, Dr. W. O. Inman Jr., Dr. W. A. Snyder. Greg McMichael, Vernon Lewis, Dr. Ralph Chaney, and the admissions department of the Glynn-Brunswick Memorial Hospital. The body will remain in the funeral home until taken to the church for services and the family will receive friends in the funeral home from 7 p.m. til 9 p.m. sunday. The family request that those wishing, make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society or the Glynn County Heart Fund. Survivors are two daughters, Joanne Dalton of Plano, Texas, and June Nevar of San Juan, Puerto Rico; a brother, W. Eddie Wade of Marietta, Ga., five grandchildren, a great-grandchild, several neices and nephews. Mrs. Lott was a native of Dodge County and had been a resident of Glynn County since 1930. She retired from the Glynn-Brunswick Memorial Hospital admission's department after 18 years of service. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and a former member of the B.P.O.E. Elks and Elks auxiliary. She was a member of the A.A.R.P. Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.1 |
