Obituary | April 27, 1933 | An obituary for William David Cole appeared on April 27, 1933. Obituary April 27, 1933 - William David Cole was born to this life at Trenton, Missouri, January 24, 1867. He departed from this life April 22, 1933 at 12:50 a.m., at the age of 66 years 2 months, and 29 days,after a lingering illness. On March 20 1890, he was married to AliceMarlin. To this union eight children were born: James Homer Cole and Scottie Cole who preceded their father in death; also Howard Cole of Wisdom, Missouri, Nellie Morgan of Clinton, Missouri, Lena Winn, Anna LeeMorgan, Ethel Knierim, all of Deepwater, and Harry Cole of Jamesport, Missouri, and fourteen grand children. He moved to Deepwater with his family twenty-four years ago in themonth of March. Since that time he was employed at the Dickey Clayfactory. In 1882 he joined the Baptist Church at Walnut Grove. In 1912 he brought his letter from Walnut Grove and entered the Baptist Church of Deepwater as a member and lived a christian life. Mr, Cole was very kind and loving with his family, and all those who knew him, knew he was agood citizen. He leaves a host of friends who join his family through thier bereavement. We wanted to keep our darling And prayed that he might stay But God in his infinite wisdom Saw fit to take him away

Obituary - Deepwater Resident Dies in Pittsburg Mrs. Alice Cole died at 7:20 a. m., May 18, at the Mt CarmelHospital in Pittsburg, Kan., where she had been a patient since May 13.In failing health for some time, her condition became serious some sixweeks ago adn she could no longer stay at her own home. She was takenthen to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Alfred Winn, where she receivedloving care until she entered the hospital. Alice (Marlin) Cole was born near Trenton, Mo., March 18, 1872, oneof the four children of Charley and Sarah Marlin. On March 20, 1890, shewas united in marriage to Willaim David Cole. In 1909 they moved toDeepwater which had since been her home. Shortly after moving to Deepwater she moved he church membership toDeepwater Baptist Church where she was faithful in attendance as long asher health permitted. She was a constant reader of the Bible, andpatterned her daily life by its teachings. A devoted wife and mother,she also found time to help neighbors in need. Following the death ofher daughter, Mrs. Nellie Morgan, she reared one granddaughter, MissShirley Morgan, and there was ever a close tie between the two. Proceding her in death was her husband who died in 1933; one sonHomer Cole; three daughters, Scottie Cole, Mrs. Ethel Knierim and Mrs.Nellie Morgan. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Alfred Winn, Deepwater, andMrs. Anna Lee Morgan, Stockton, Calif; two sons, Howard Cole, Pittsburg,Kan., and Harry Cole, Kansas City, Mo; two sisters Mrs. Anna Hunt,Jamesport, Mo., and Mrs. Ida Lord, Trenton, Mo; also 19 grand-childrenand 26 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m., May 29, at theDeepwater Baptist Church by the pastor, Rev Howard H. Lewis. H. A.Strickland, Henry Park, Mrs. Miles Eli Dunning adn Mrs. Howard H. LewisLewis sang 'Rock of Ages,' 'Beyond the Sunset' adn Safe in the Arms ofJesus,' with Mrs. Miles Dunning at the piano. Escorts for burial in theDeepwater Cemetery were five grandsons, Merle, Ray, Roy, and Ralph. Jr.,Knierim and Homer Cole, and one great-grandson, Jimmy Lewis, HurstFuneral service in charge.
